Hello Babylon!

Hello Babylon!
Two and a half years ago, I was honored by this community to serve as a School Board Trustee. It has been an extraordinary experience working alongside some of the best people I have ever met—from our dedicated administrators and fellow board members to the families that make this district so special. Now, I am asking for your support for another three-year term to continue serving the Babylon School District.
Since I took office, our district has moved from success to success. Our students routinely excel and over-perform in academics, athletics, the arts, and community service. I am incredibly proud to be part of the team helping foster these achievements.
Why I’m running:
  • Experience: I bring three decades of experience in public education, focusing on the issues and changes that impact our schools daily.
  • Service: My life has always been about service—from my time in the U.S. Army Reserves serving in Iraq (2004-2005) to my work on the Board today.
  • Roots: My wife and I chose Babylon to raise our family over 20 years ago. I have three children currently in the district and a fourth who graduated 2 years ago. I am fully invested in all of our children's success.
As the election approaches, I ask for your vote so we can build on our current momentum and keep Babylon a shining model for all of Long Island.
Thank you for your support, and please share this post!

What We Have Accomplished
Two and a half years ago I ran for the school board position based on my years of experience in education and dedication to the Babylon Community. In that time our District has seen many gains that have benefited the students and the wider community. For example:
  • Numerous upgrades and repairs throughout our buildings and facilities, improved security features along with creation of a Human Resources position and improved administration procedures.

  • Fiscally smart decisions that have increased district revenue and put District finances on a solid ground. The District has routinely received high marks from outside auditors for how the District is run.
Most importantly our kids are succeeding and a positive culture of learning and community has taken hold throughout. As a Trustee and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, I’ve worked tirelessly alongside our Board and Administration to deliver these critical enhancements. Let’s keep our community moving forward! I’d be honored to have your vote this election and please share this post.

For the past two and a half years as a Trustee, I, along with my fellow Board members and administrators, have worked tirelessly to make Babylon one of the premier school districts on Long Island. We have made great strides in that time, implementing many improvements that will serve our children and our wonderful community well.
We are investing in our buildings and grounds with plans for a new floor in the Babylon Grade School, an expanded parking lot at the Babylon Elementary School, and additional security enhancements throughout the District—including a dedicated security vehicle to provide roving coverage.
Furthermore, we have expanded the responsibilities of our content area directors to ensure a vertically integrated curriculum across all grade levels. We also oversaw the hiring of the District’s first-ever Human Resources Administrator and a new Director of Special Education. By adding these vital positions and expanding our support services, we are ensuring every student gains the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century.
But this is just the beginning. Let's continue to create a District where "Panther Pride" defines us and achievement is the norm. Thank you all for your support, and please consider voting for my re-election on May 19th.
Great Meet the Candidates event last night and appreciate the questions and positive atmosphere!— Rob Verdi
